getting the price right

Securing funding and generating income isn’t just about having a strong idea, it’s about knowing what your work really costs and setting a price that makes sense.  One concept sits at the heart of this course - the distinction between cost, need, and price. It's s deceptively simple and genuinely changes how you approach funding conversations.

Getting the Price Right is a practical e-learning course for charities and social enterprises which will give you the knowledge and confidence you need to cost out your projects and set an ask that appeals to funders and sustains your organisation.

This isn’t a course on bookkeeping or detailed budgeting. Instead, you’ll learn how to understand what you’re offering, what it truly costs to deliver, what your organisation needs financially, and how to turn that knowledge into stronger funding requests, smarter pricing, and more sustainable income.

If you've ever guessed what to charge, or worried about asking for too much or not enough, this course will help you make clear, well-founded decisions about money - and ask for what you genuinely need.

Writing successful funding bids

Writing Successful Funding Bids is a practical e-learning course designed to help charities and social enterprises write clearer, more persuasive funding applications and decide which opportunities are really worth pursuing.

Through short video explanations, real examples and interactive activities, the course guides you step-by-step through the bid-writing process -from preparing for funding opportunities and deciding whether to apply, to structuring a strong and compelling proposal.

Based on our popular in-person training delivered to over 3,500 participants, this course draws on more than 20 years’ experience supporting charities to secure funding and improve their fundraising practice.

Whether you’re new to fundraising or looking to refresh your approach, this course will give you practical tools to help you write stronger bids with greater confidence.

I liked the interactivity, the range of examples and the fact that the learning could be applied to any level of funding from any organisation.
— Kate Little Deputy CEO, CVS Cheshire EastSource

How long does it take?

The total training time is around three hours. However, you can pause and return later without losing your progress. This means you can complete the course at your own pace - even if you only have 10, 20 or 30 minutes at a time.

The level of detail in advice was excellent, and [there was a ] good variety of reading, watching clips and interactive parts to complete which kept the learning interesting and varied.
— Sarah Keen, Fundraising Manager, Youth Scotland
The course had a helpful structure and ended with practical applications. I loved the simple charts and the steps that were laid out. It was logical and clear in it’s presentation.
