Some people call it 'agile'.

We call it common sense.

Selinger Consultants provides a tailored service for each charity, voluntary organisation or social enterprise based on their current and future needs.

We don’t work to formulas or templates. We work to what you need and can afford.

Our work is rooted in ensuring your organisation is sustainable, and we work in a flexible, supportive way that builds the capacity and skills of your staff, volunteers and trustees to ensure that you aren't left with another 'consultant report' to gather dust on the shelf.

  • We don’t have a fixed approach to strategic planning, as not everyone wants or needs the same thing. Whether you need someone to take you through the whole process; or it might be you just want a guiding hand on the tiller; or perhaps there’s a specific project or task you need help with - drop us a line and we’re happy to chat it through with you.

    Some of the things we can help with include;

    • Strategy creation – including workshops, advice and review processes

    • Theory of Change development and workshops

    • Business planning

    • Feasibility studies

    • Developing impact frameworks

  • Most of our work is with small organisations - and we know that being a leader is often as much about managing blocked toilets as it is about setting strategy! Our experience in leadership in a range of organisations, as a interim and a member of staff means we can in a strong position to help when things are looking tricky or when there is a short term need for support.

    Some of the things we can help with include;

    • Interim leadership roles

    • Organisational strength reviews

    • Coaching leaders or emerging leaders

  • How much does it cost? Really? That’s the question we can help you answer. We’re not going to be able to help you knock your accounts into shape (that’s a job for an accountant), but we can help you make sure you get the money you need to do what you want, and need to do, by budgeting and applying for funding in the right way.

    Our support can help make sure you focus your time in the most efficient way, and (as Mick Jagger sang), get what you need.

    Some of the things we can help with include;

    • Support to develop full cost recovery models

    • Financial modelling for income generation

  • Whether you’re planning a board away day, want some help thinking strategically, or have a tricky issue to over come, we’re experienced facilitators who help make working in small or large groups fun and engaging.

    It might be online or face to face - but whatever is required, we will use a range of tools, techniques and processess to make sure everyone is involved and inspired, and no-one feels uncomfortable taking part.

    Come to us for

    • Board away days and planning sessions

    • Strategy development workshops

    • Theory of change development

  • Our approach to governance is practical: how can we help your board to be effective, efficient and engaged with your work? It can be hard for volunteer board members to give you what they need if you only meet a handful of times a year, so how can you make those meetings useful and supportive, rather than just creating more items on your to do list?

    Some of the things we can help with include;

    • Governance reviews

    • Board away days

    • Board coaching

    • Policy development and reviews

  • All organisations need money to keep them going - clearly this is a major part of operational resilience and sustainability.

    Whilst we’re happy to help out with some initial fundraising support to set you off on the right track - we don’t offer a bid writing service. Our preference is to work alongside you to build your own skills and experience so you can continue to raise funds when we’re not around.

    What we can do is ensure you’re heading the right direction, focusing your resources in the best possible way.

    Some of the things we can help with include;

    • Case for support development

    • Feasibility studies and business plans relating to new income generation opportunities

    • Advice and guidance for developing strong written applications to grant makers and other funders

    • Application reviews and critical feedback

  • Ensuring your staff have the skills and support to make your organisation effective is essential.

    Small group training can be a cost effective way to build the skills and confidence of staff, and we can deliver in-house or through one of our partner providers such as NCVO.

Leah is the most productive person I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She manages to do in a couple of hours what would often take someone else a couple of days – and she does it to a consistently high standard. The only thing that would prevent me from recommending her is that I do not want her to become so booked I can’t call on her again, which I am quite sure I will.
— Jennie Butterworth, CEO at Envision
Leah has been fantastic to work with, extremely knowledgeable and great support over the past few weeks. Highly recommended
— Rebecca Hemmant, Managing Director, Dacorum Sports Trust
I must admit that the topic ‘bid writing’, while wholly relevant to fundraising, did not fill me with inspiration. However, your presentation, style, effort and experience was captivating. You clearly speak from a vast amount of experience and made the topic come to life through the practical task. I left bubbling with ideas and an renewed drive to get cracking on some things I’d let slide onto the back burner.
